A new Decorative Arts Gallery in West Hollywood
“I am fascinated with the creative process and the narrative behind it—the core of crafts- manship. Artwork represented in my gallery showcases the refinement of authentic hand- made objects of art. My collaboration with the artists is all encompassing and informs my vision as a gallerist,” said Carole Decombe, the owner of a decorative arts gallery in Paris.
Galerie Carole Decombe will launch a new space on September 21, 2016 at 8629 Melrose Avenue, the heart of the design district. Plans for the new gallery began in 2014 while curating her exhibitions in the Parisian gallery at 30 rue de Lille—the chic art center known as le Carré Rive Gauche. Carole is not new to working closely with famous French and American designers, and her gallery in Paris was well-known to an af uent following.
Creations made exclusively for a gallerist as one-of-a-kind slow art productions, is not only a nod to historical relevance, it is the foundation of Carole’s desire to create a deeper appreciation of the five core elements in craftsmanship and style: the reflection of an artist and the conception of the piece; the fabrication and know-how; the loyalty to form and function; and the time invested in the process of realization.
Galerie Carole Decombe is dedicated to artists who are reinventing the decorative arts of the 21st century, using advancements in technology to reshape raw elements from the earth into functional aesthetic designs. “Before these works became a piece of art, the material used was a part of the natural environment. The artists I work with bring an elevated sensitivity to their work, creating beautiful things”, said Carole.
Since 2012 Carole has been a prominent member of the 30 year old le Carré Rive Gauche. This particular district embraces a prolific French history and showcases preeminent works of art. The proximity of the Musée du Louvre, Musée d’Orsay and Musée des Arts Décoratifs facilitates superb alliances among antique dealers, fine art houses, and recognized museums. The locality is known among sophisticated art patrons and museum board directors, giving serious credibility in art collecting from the established salons. Carole comes from a background of École du Louvre where she attained a degree in architectural and interior design heritage preservation.
Galerie Carole Decombe works with a number of American designers on the East Coast and she naturally wanted to be a part of the design movement in California. Not only this, but Carole made her early life here when she was working at Max eld’s, a high-end boutique on Melrose. It is, in a sense, a return to her Los Angeles roots by choosing a location she knows well.
She recognizes that Los Angeles is attracting more influential artists and global art galleries. The in flux from New York to participate in the art scene on the West Coast is creating a shift in relevance. “For me, Los Angeles is a place of enthusiasm and energy where artistic spirit soars,” said Decombe. Becoming a part of the design district in West Hollywood seems inevitable, and Carole Decombe’s gallery is poised for prominence in her pitch-perfect space.
